Hatch and Dayley

I spent the day on the transcription of the How Firm a Foundation Medley from David Glen Hatch’s new book, Favorite LDS Piano Solos, Book Four. This is an advanced collection which has become a best seller for us.

At 1:30 p.m., K. Newell Dayley joined me in our conference room for a meeting. Dr. Dayley has recently retired from service at Brigham Young Univerisity where he was Academic Vice President. The last four months have seen him writing a major work for Soprano, Trumpet, and Orchestra. It will have a national premiere at Carnegie Hall in New York City in May.
Newell has been my mentor since 1970. He has blessed my life and the lives of countless persons around him. I was wondering if, now with more time on his hands, he might want to take the publishing of his works back into his own hands. But the opposite is true: he would like to expand his involvement with us with all of this works. I am pleased.
I finished the Hatch piece at 5:10 p.m.
