PEACE

PEACE

It's hard to spend any time watching the news or scrolling through your social media without feeling like there is a lot of anger, unrest, and divisiveness in our world. The problem is made worse through the nameless/faceless virtual domain where people often say incredibly offensive things to complete strangers.

So where, amidst all this unrest, do we turn for Peace?

As the Savior entered the garden of Gethsemane he "began to be sorrowful and very heavy." Turning to a few of his disciples, he said: "My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death."

The Redeemer of the world fell on His face and prayed, saying: "Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him."

At this hour of anguish, Jesus Christ turned to His Father for peace. And while His burden was not removed, He was given the strength to bear it.

“There is no peace on earth today, save the peace in the heart at home with God.”

Edna St. Vincent Millay

I love these lyrics from one of our newest titles, Peace:

"There is a quiet place, a place where my heart can go. Far from the winds of doubt, from darkness and storms that blow. Gently it holds me, safe in heaven's arms. Surely, this feeling is peace.

There is a quiet place where love is the voice I hear. Softly each sacred thing, quiet and yet so clear. It's more than just a passing thing; at times it rushes over me. It's deeper than the deepest blue; sweeter than the morning's dew, And rescues me, sets me free, and takes me back home.

There is a quiet place where I feel my Savior near. He calms my restless seas and washes away my fears. There's one place I want to be: wrapped in His peace.

Far from the feelings of despair, the weight of hopeless grief, the future that's unclear, there is peace."

Peace - (SATB and Piano)

I love how this song captures the feeling of "peace" that our Savior, Jesus Christ offers all of us.

It is our hope that songs like this will lead you to the true source of peace and comfort!

God Bless,
